Variations

The fish is a symbol in the Christian faith. It is a constellation of the Zodiac. Fish is a food all over the world. Fish are kept by some as pets. They often ornaments ponds and garden pools. In the Orient, they have been bred into amazing types and forms, turned into virtually an art form. For me, I cannot say exactly how they became so prominent in my paintings but they seem to have preoccupied me rather more than I was ever aware. They are amazingly beautiful creatures. And they lend themselves quite naturally to embellishment. Some of the "species" I have drawn will not be found in nature.
